Worcestershire Literary Festival Wins Highly Commended Award

The Worcestershire Literary Festival team is proud to announce that they have won a “Highly Commended” award in the Best Tourism Event & Festival category in the 2012 Worcestershire Welcome Awards.

The event, which was held on Thursday 18th October 2012 as part of the Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce’s Worcester Business Expo, was hosted by Howard Bentham of BBC Hereford and Worcester and showcased the best of the Worcestershire tourism industry.

The festival would like to extend their congratulations to the Pershore Plum Festival who won the category and to the Worcester Festival who gained a “Commended” award.

Lisa Ventura, Festival Director said: “We are over the moon to receive this award, particularly as the Worcestershire Welcome awards usually has a policy of not including an event that is less than 3 years old, so it is even more of an honor to gain the “Highly Commended” award.  We exist to promote poetry and literature as an essential part of life and operate events throughout the year, not just in June when the festival takes place.”

The WLF team are busy organising a Children’s Halloween event on October 31st 2012 at St John’s Library, and preparing to welcome new Birmingham Poet Laureate Stephen Morrison-Burke to their monthly Parole Parlate event on November 1st.
